Selected Topics in the African Diaspora; Black History and Culture of the DMV
Cross-listed with HIST319F and AMST328O. Examines the development and evolution of black communities and their cultures in Washington, D.C. and the surrounding region, including Northern Virginia and Prince George s and Montgomery Counties Maryland. Moving from the colonial era to the present, students will explore the intersecting histories of black populations in urban, suburband rural environments, all located in the shadow of the nation s capital.
