Special Topics in Anthropology; Africa and Israel

Cross-listed with ISRL249F. From the influences of Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sudan on Biblical Israel to modern histories of migration and engagement, relationships between Israeli and African societies have contributed formatively to Israel s presence in the Middle East. This course considers the long history of African and Israeli interactions, including modern migrations, religious claims, and socio-cultural developments.
