ANTH475

Field Skills in Ecological Anthropology

This hands-on course teaches advanced data collection and analysis skills in ecological anthropology. Students will work on applied ecological anthropology projects that involve active fieldwork, data analysis, and scientific communication. We will focus on methods such as behavioral observation, spatial data collection, cultural domain analysis, text mining, and social network analysis. Throughout the course, students will learn to use R and other open source digital tools for data cleaning and analysis. No prior experience with R or other coding languages is required, but interest in learning R for anthropological research is critical for success in this course.
