Foundations of Applied Global Health

Prerequisite: none. Restriction: Restricted to students in the Biological Sciences program at Shady Grove. An exploration of sociocultural, economic,political, biological, and environmental factors that contribute to global andcommunity health. Students will be introduced to the world's vast diversity ofdeterminants of health and disease and will analyze current and emerging globalhealth priorities, including the major infectious diseases, nutritional,noncommunicable, neuropsychiatric, and other causes of morbidity, mortality,and disability in each world region.
