Seminar in Mediated Communication; Media Literacy

Restrictions: Restricted to COMM majors only. Media literacy is a skill that provides us the ability to evaluate media messages in a variety of forms. This class tackles a number of questions: What are the functions and effects of media literacy in a democratic society? How can we critically analyze the media content we consume? How does media literacy impact our engagement and understanding of information? What are the implications of media literacy upon cultural, social, and policy issues?
