Special Topics in Dance; Film as Performance

Alternating between lecture & creative research on Week A and creative laboratories on Week B. Students must pay a $25 lab fee. A dynamic incubator for performing artists who crave new ways of seeing, making, and understanding their voice via cinema and beyond. Moving beyond conventional filmmaking methods, the course embraces performance, philosophy, research, intuitive storytelling, as well as technical exploration performance for camera, scripting, storyboarding, filming, editing, and beyond. The lens becomes a collaborator, a witness, and an accomplice in the act of process & creation.
