Critical examination of direct and indirect impacts of climate change on human health. After introducing greenhouse gases, large-scale weather phenomena, and climate models, we will discuss how climate change affects not only infectious air-, water-, food-, and vector-borne diseases but also noncommunicable diseases such as cardiovascular and respiratory health conditions, food security, malnutrition, mental health, violence, and migration. We will then explore different biological and socioeconomic vulnerabilities to climate change across populations through the lens of health disparities and climate justice. Furthermore, we will touch on both current and future climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies to promote public health.
