Special Topics - M.A. Level; The Modern Lyric
The seminar studies the relationship of the lyrical poem to the social, political, and ecological catastrophes of the 20th century. Students will also study poetic theory, historical poetry readings, and musical adaptations. Poets studied include Hofmannsthal, Trakl, Rilke, Lasker-Schuler, Benn, Kolmar, Brecht, Sachs, Celan, Aichinger, Bachmann, and Biermann, among others. Taught in German.
