History of China's last imperial dynasty, the Great Qing, founded by the Manchus and ruled China from 1644 to 1911. Topics include the Manchu conquest, emperors and the bureaucracy, economic growth and commercialization, territorial expansion, social and cultural changes, and the Qing in contemporary Chinese popular culture.
