Special Topics in History; Ukraine and Russia: Entangled and Mirrored Histories

Though Ukraine and Russia are today dramatically at loggerheads and even in a hybrid war conflict, the two countries still retain much of their historic similarity. This course addresses multiple interactions between the processes by which Russian and Ukrainian statehood and national identity crystallized, in a broader context of East/Central European and Slavic, imperial and national histories, from the early modern era up to the present.
