Advanced French Lyric Diction

Restriction: Must be in one of the following programs (Music - Doctoral (Doctoral); Music - Master (Master's)) . And permission of instructor; or admission to graduate voice program. Concepts, strategies and techniques for singing operatic and song literature in French: phoneticization, formation and singing of the vowel-sounds, semi-consonants, and consonants; the liaison; legato singing in French; the hiatus, mute and aspirate 'h'; stress and word rhythm. Use of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) will be stressed.
