Seminar in Social Psychology; The Principles of Motivation

We will review and discuss some seminal classic and contemporary papers on motivation focused concepts such as goals attitudes, and their relation to behavior, the initiation, and maintenance of commitment, Issues in intrinsic motivation, the concept of basic human motives, and the role of motivation in behavioral extremism. Participants will read and comment on major contributions in this domain and will be encouraged to develop their ideas as to the future directions of motivational research in social and general psychology.
