Special Topics in Second Language Learning; Research Methods for Language Variation

This course will introduce quantitative methods such as mixed effects variable rule analysis, regression trees, and random forests as they are used to model variation in sociolinguistics. We will also explore how these methods can be used for modeling variation in second language phenomena.
