Urban Sociology

This course examines the social, political, and economic forces shaping the emergence and transformation of cities in the United States, with particular focus on the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region. The course adopts an interdisciplinary approach to examine various topics, including urban placemaking, urban policy, housing, gentrification, transportation, redevelopment, the unfolding climate crisis, urban inequalities, and how different groups experience city life.
