THET669W

Independent Study; Devised Work Collection

Students must pay a $25 lab fee. The class will explore new techniques of telling mythological themes, specifically examining the use of high style-low technical approaches totheatrical storytelling. Students will discuss and explore different avenues of storytelling through design and performance, including scenery, costumes, lighting, projections, puppetry, movement, and performance. Focus will be on the cross-discipline exploration and discussion of design techniques as vehicles for storytelling while helping students examine and push their own style and tools of design. The final project will be a performance piece by the designers in the light lab loosely based off an existing text.
