Issues in African Development
Credit only granted for: AASP398D, GEOG398A, GVPT359F, SOCY398Y, or AASP360. Formerly: AASP398D. An introduction to the study of development on the African continent. Students will have an opportunity to think critically about the ways in which Africa is portrayed in the academic literature, popular press, and media. Issues of focus include population dynamics, gender, health, migration, HIV/AIDS, and globalization with particular attention paid to the role of culture.
