GERS378F
Special Topics in German Studies; Nosferatu
Explores the significance of Nosferatu for German culture and film history, with screenings of Murnau's original 1922 film and subsequent versions. Taught in a block format during Halloween month, the course will focus on questions of genre (including the vampire film and the horror genre more broadly) and adaptation; we will also consider Nosferatu in the context of queer cinema and examine its representation of gender, sexuality, race, and ethnicity.
