Counseling in Communicative Disorders
Recommended: HESP400 and HESP411. Introduction to the application of counseling principles and methodologies for working with individuals with communication disorders and their families. The role of the audiologist and speech language pathologist as counselors will be explored. Class content will focus on theoretical approaches and techniques to counseling from the fields of psychology, social work, and family the family therapy. The application of counseling in the diagnostic process as well as treatment of a wide variety of communication disorders will be highlighted throughout the course.
