| Eliza Thompson HESP400 Expecting an A admin 05/12/2024 | Professor Thompson is the best professor I have had here at UMD. She really cares about all of her students and wants them to succeed. She gives out five homework assignments that are all graded for completion, 2 exams that are relatively easy, and one group project. Her class is engaging and very interesting. Definitely recommend! |
| Eliza Thompson HESP400 Expecting an A+ admin 05/29/2023 | She’s a nice professor and wants you to understand the course information, but at first she’s definitely intimidating and can seem brash. She’s a little disorganized in her slides and doesn’t have the canvas page set up very well, but overall it’s an interesting course and I enjoyed learning in it |
| Eliza Thompson HESP400 Expecting an A- admin 04/06/2023 | literally awful. she’s so rude. i don’t understand why she’s a professor because she clearly doesn’t like her students or enjoy it. she’s not a nice person and will purposely make you feel stupid. avoid her if you can, but unfortunately, if you’re a hesp major, you might not be able to. |
| Eliza Thompson HESP400 Expecting an A Anonymous 04/13/2021 This review was submitted while most classes were online during the COVID-19 pandemic. It may not be indicative of a regular semester. | Honestly terrible. If you have the option, do not take a class with her. She is really rude and not responsive at all to student questions and will demean people in the class rather than trying to understand what they are talking about. Truly terrible and should not be a professor. |
| Eliza Thompson HESP415 Expecting an A- Anonymous 12/08/2020 This review was submitted while most classes were online during the COVID-19 pandemic. It may not be indicative of a regular semester. | I had Eliza for 400 (Spring 20) and 415 (Fall 20). I liked her for both classes. She is pretty well organized and definitely knows a lot about her field. She adapted really well to student feedback midsemester (transitioning from asynchro to synchro + recording lectures) and brought in some guest lecturers, which was cool. She can feel a little brusque or rude sometimes (both face to face/Zoom or over email) but she does come out and say directly that she knows she can be blunt. Exams generally quite fair and reasonable and she gives a solid study guide. |
| Eliza Thompson HESP400 Anonymous 05/21/2020 This review was submitted while most classes were online during the COVID-19 pandemic. It may not be indicative of a regular semester. | Professor Thompson seems to be very knowledgeable about the practice of speech-language pathology. However, she is not very responsive or constructive in answering students' questions or concerns, and is often defensive when students express the need for clarification. Her expectations and instructions across similar assignments were unclear and inconsistent as the requirements for assignment changed from interaction to interaction with her. Prepare for your questions to be answered with "It's in the syllabus," or "It's in the book/readings." |
