Computational Journalism
Prerequisite: Permission of the Philip Merrill College of Journalism. Cross-listed with: INST403. Jointly offered with: JOUR773. Credit only granted for: JOUR479V, JOUR473, INST408I or INST403. Formerly: JOUR479V and INST408I. Designed to teach the application of computational methods in journalism and reporting. The methods include natural language processing, visualization, and web data mining. The course will also cover the necessity and impact of journalistic ethics in designing computation solutions.
