Special Topics in Persian Studies; Sociolinguistic Issues in Contemporary Iran

This course delves into the role of language in contemporary Iranian society and explores socially significant topics such as standard language ideology, language attitudes, minority language rights, and language and social identity in multilingual Iran primarily through the scholarly lens of sociolinguistics. Knowledge of Persian useful but not required. Taught in English.
