Selected Topics in Russian Literature; Digital Approaches to Russophone Cultures in Exile
Explores selected texts, films, and other media with a focus on representations of the experience of exile and emigration in Russophone cultures in the 20th and 21st centuries. We will learn about the historical and cultural contexts of the five waves of emigration from the Soviet Union and modern Russia. Students will also become familiar with various digital humanities platforms and create online resources that "map" Russian-speaking culture in exile around the world today and over the past century.
