Multiliteracies: Theory and Practice

Prerequisite: TLPL665. Credit only granted for: EDCI638, EDCI688J, or TLPL661. Formerly: EDCI638 and EDCI688J. Explores the theoretical constructs and practical manifestations of multiliteracies in communities and schools by presenting an overview of the research on the constructs of New Literacy Studies, Critical Literacy, Digital Literacy, and Funds of Knowledge, as well as the practical implications of teaching reading and writing to culturally and linguistically diverse learners in content areas (i.e., language arts, math, science, social studies, etc.) in classrooms.
