| Stephen Altschul BIOI606 Expecting an A admin 12/30/2025 | Very first class, I thought Dr. Altschul was going to be a grumpy professor as he looked a little intimidating, boy, I was so wrong LOL. Dr. Altschul is one of the kindest-hearted professors I have had during my 6 years at UMD and is extremely understanding. Content-wise, it sometimes can get dense and a little mundane, BUT this guy is literally the co-inventor of BLAST, so it's super interesting once you get over how dense the lectures can be. Dr. Altschul also has some AMAZING stories, being a very well-seasoned scientist in the bioinformatics field. As for workload and grades, there's homework every week that helps you build upon what you learned in class, and a midterm and final. Overall an amazing class with an AMAZING professor! |
