| Mairin Batten HESP120 Expecting an A- admin 12/23/2025 | Though linguistics is not related to my current major, I took this class as a gen-ed and REALLLY loved it!! The material was so interesting, there was a good amount of working in groups and interacting with peers which was nice! I would recommend this class to anyone, I really feel like I gained so much knowledge, (just take notes and study and you will do great:). Professor got back to emails quickly and was very kind with grading, clearly passionate about this subject! |
| Mairin Batten HESP120 Expecting an A admin 12/13/2025 | Professor Batten was very sweet and definitely loves her job. The content was fairly easy despite it being very new. As long as you put in the effort you should do just fine. She also gives many opportunities for extra credit. Highly recommend you take this class and professor! |
| Mairin Batten admin 12/13/2025 | Very friendly, good teacher. Quizzes are always much easier than homeworks. I enjoyed her class. No glaring issues, really. |
| Mairin Batten HESP120 Expecting an A+ admin 05/19/2025 | she was a nice woman but some of the material contradicted itself and was kind of confusing but it was nice that she gave us a study guide with all the terms on the exam. I give her more grace because something tragic happened to our other professor so she had to take over so she tried her best and I still did well lol so idc |
| Mairin Batten HESP120 Expecting a C Anonymous 01/30/2025 | Professor Batten is genuinely a mean person. Without getting into detail, I truly felt targeted in her class because I needed ADS accommodations and couldn't get them yet. Although we had a serious incident in the class and she asked for us to be patient with her, I truly feel that wasn't the case in which she treated me. She made me uncomfortable to go to office hours and to even ask for help because I was scared of what her remarks would be this time. I think she knew I had academic disabilities but just wanted to think I was this lazy, careless student. |
