| Mark Carroll ENSP400 Expecting a B+ admin 12/10/2025 | Has great feedback but grades really strictly, unlike EVERY OTHER teacher for this class. DO NOT TAKE HIM. |
| Mark Carroll PLSC205 Expecting a B- admin 12/08/2025 | I never expected a class on grass to be this hard. I show up to every lecture and leave more confused than I was the last. It felt like the expectation to perform well on quizzes was to literally memorize all the content within the slides. I don't think Dr. Carroll is an ill-intent professor per se, but the structure of his course is definitely old school and intense. If not for the TA, I would've definitely failed this course. |
| Mark Carroll ENSP250 Expecting an A admin 05/09/2024 | Dr. Carroll knows a lot and his lectures are pretty good, but a little dry. Some of the assignments are kind of confusing but he's willing to help explain things. All the tests/exams are open-notes/open-lecture and are based on lectures. However, you have to actually show up to class in order to get the material as some of the things are only said orally and not on the slides. |
| Mark Carroll PLSC205 Expecting an A- admin 12/21/2022 | Dr. Carroll is a very well-intended and knowledgeable professor. Students that expect the easy A and don't want to show up will obviously fail. This is a 4 credit lab that I took to satisfy my Natural Science Lab credit. While professor Carroll is a good and understanding professor, the course material is quite intense and rigorous. Despite few students, even ones in the major struggled. The material is very dense, but you learn a lot. Overall this is not the worst gen ed lab, and Dr. Carroll does his best. Show up to class and he will show up for you. |
| Mark Carroll ENSP250 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 10/26/2021 | Mr. Carroll was one of the most thought provoking and enlightening professors I have had during my time at the University of Maryland. He is very knowledgeable on the topic of plant biology and I thoroughly enjoyed this course. I would highly recommend this professor. |
| Mark Carroll ENSP250 Expecting a B+ admin 06/16/2021 This review was submitted while most classes were online during the COVID-19 pandemic. It may not be indicative of a regular semester. | While I believe that Dr. Carroll knows a ton about his subject, he is not an effective professor. I only had his class over zoom but he put in little to no effort in changin the way he taught this class to make it more interesting over zoom. |
