It was not manually verified and may not follow our review standards. | DON'T TAKE THIS COURSE!The old lady seems nice but i'm highly doubt her teaching skills. The ppt is almost useless and disorganized. Certainly it needs to be updated a long time ago. The tests are disasters! the average for both midterms are just above 60. 2 long essays, 8 short answers and 15 mc for a 50min test?! Seriously? The expectations are very unclear! Please, don't take this course! |
| Martha Geores GEOG202 Expecting a C Anonymous 05/14/2016 This review was automatically imported from OurUMD. It was not manually verified and may not follow our review standards. | DO NOT TAKE GEORES FOR ANYTHING! There were actually many students who wrote complaints to the head of the department because of her unfairness and horrible teaching (if you can call it that) style. I know someone who is a senior geography major, taking 400 level classes, who still is getting a C in this class, and not from any lack of effort on his part. Geores is the most disorganized and worthless teacher that I have ever met, and the TA was just as bad. The averages were way too low, and she was rude and out to "getcha" grade-wise. She purposefully left things off the study guide, and during review sessions simply answered "It's in the book" when asked to go over something. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away as possible |
| Martha Geores GEOG330 Anonymous 01/12/2015 This review was automatically imported from OurUMD. It was not manually verified and may not follow our review standards. | Although Geores is an extremely nice woman, I felt the class itself was not worth a lot of my time. Her PowerPoints are very messy and disorganized. The textbooks she used were very dense with information and detail, especially for an I-Series. She didn't curve any of the exams, and the average on the final was a 50/75, with no one getting an A on it. |
| Martha Geores GEOG202 Expecting an A admin 01/25/2011 This review was automatically imported from OurUMD. It was not manually verified and may not follow our review standards. | I took geog202 with her over the winter as an online course. Her powerpoints/lectures aren't helpful at all, so learning through the textbook alone was essential. She seems nice though and grades very fairly with helpful feedback. |
| Martha Geores GEOG431 Expecting an A Anonymous 12/07/2010 This review was automatically imported from OurUMD. It was not manually verified and may not follow our review standards. | Avoid GEOG431 if you can, it's really not the best class. Dr. Geores can't figure out how to use technology, so she won't grade anything that involves Blackboard until the end of the semester (which is basically everything but the midterm). Her powerpoints are embarrassingly bad, and most of the movies we watched in class put me to sleep. There's usually no point to her "lectures." However, she will help you if you show initiative. It's not a hard class, just kinda a waste of time/effort. |

It was not manually verified and may not follow our review standards. | I went to the Caribbean with her on two separate short-term study abroads. She's a very nice woman though she can be strict if necessary. She knows her subject well. She's a fair grader and worth getting to know. |
