| Alexandra Grimm COMM107 Expecting an A+ admin 12/11/2025 | Alexandra’s COMM107 class has been hands down the best English-adjacent class I’ve ever taken. She really seems to care about her students and wants them to become better public speakers. She’s a very kind grader and it’s hard to fail the class, but there are also some extra credit opportunities. She is super relatable to students and is honestly a really funny person. She’s also very receptive to emails and asks for feedback on course content. Her lectures are pretty entertaining most of the time, I’ve never found myself being put to sleep by them because they’re pretty interactive. In the curriculum and not by Alexandra’s doing, there’s a new group speech module that has a pretty quick turnaround time. Pick a good group and a good topic and you should be fine. |
| Alexandra Grimm COMM200 Expecting an A Anonymous 12/15/2023 | She's a very sweet person and clearly cares about the subject of her class but I wouldn't recommend it. Just take 107, unless you NEED to take this. It was an annoying extra load of extremely long academic journals and group projects. The topic is unfortunately not interesting and it's easy to get lost in the readings she gives us. I also feel her grading criteria was a little vague at times. Unless you need this for your major just take COMM107. |
| Alexandra Grimm COMM107 Expecting an A admin 05/28/2023 | The kindest and most caring instructor I had at UMD, and maybe I ever will have. She is sociable, and clearly wants all of her students to succeed and make them become comfortable with their public speaking skills. Just a little side note: Alexandra is still new to teaching COMM107, so she may be less experienced than other COMM107 instructors. However, she is incredibly open to feedback from her students and is always willing to improve their class experience. She’ll definitely get better at teaching comm as time goes by. If you do the assignments with care, and attend class, it shouldn’t be hard at all to get an A; she’s a very lenient grader. She even treated us with some donuts and snacks on the last day :) |
