| Mehdy Sedaghat Payam PERS405 Expecting an A admin 02/04/2025 | Dr. Payam is an amazing professor. He is extremely knowledgeable, fun, and has a knack for meeting a student where they are at. Like the other reviewers said he is always upbeat and seems happy to be right where he is, teaching his students. His expectations were more than fair and his instructions were clear. We had him for a Persian course and he came prepared with all sorts of materials from books, movies, podcasts, etc. He has no shortage of hilarious stories from his time in Iran which not only aided in some cultural context but also provided some niche vocabulary we probably wouldn't have heard anywhere else. He is a wonderful professor and if he is your introduction to Persian studies/Persian culture consider yourself lucky. |
| Mehdy Sedaghat Payam CINE280 Expecting an A admin 12/18/2024 | Dr. Payam is an excellent instructor! I decided to take this class to fulfill a Gen-Ed requirement and maybe watch some movies while I was at it. Every class is a discussion of the movie you were supposed to watch the day before (according to the syllabus) and it was genuinely very fun and thought provoking! There were three major assignments (a presentation on a movie of your choice, a final paper or creative project, and a proposal for that final paper or project) + attendance. It wasn’t too much work and Dr. Payam graded fairly. I’d say if you have any experience in editing or camerawork, it’s easier to do a short film for final project, since the paper has to be at least 1500 words and well-researched. Overall, fun class, great professor! |
| Mehdy Sedaghat Payam ENGL290 Expecting an A Anonymous 05/11/2024 | Super nice and friendly professor, always has a smile on his face. Every class was discussion, and discussions are genuinely interesting and connects back to relevant ideas. He will force you to buy certain books, but I think you can get away without actually buying them. The schedule and canvas outline is a little confusing, but makes up for it because there are barely any assignments. |
| Mehdy Sedaghat Payam CMLT270 Expecting an A+ admin 06/20/2023 | Amazing prof. So well minded, relatable, and educated. 1 7-10min presentation on any topic (book, song, movie, show, poem, ads, literally anything), around 3 discussion posts, and a final paper that is super vague. Prof grades off of completion (no one got lower than a 100% on the final or any assignments for that matter). Had a couple novels for us to read but changed some to movies and has us read less when he realized no one was reading them. The class is mainly discussion based and super interesting. |
| Mehdy Sedaghat Payam CMLT270 Expecting an A+ admin 05/12/2023 | This guy is the real deal. Easily one of the best professors I've ever had. This course is not too much work (1 presentation, a few discussion posts, and a final paper) and is pretty fun. He did originally have like 5 novels we had to read but after he realized no one felt like reading them he switched to movies instead. Take this class if you want an easy A and are open to learning new things. |
