| Philip Resnik DATA641 Expecting a B- Anonymous 05/27/2021 This review was submitted while most classes were online during the COVID-19 pandemic. It may not be indicative of a regular semester. | Great professor, he really takes the time to explain his material and often checked with the class on what we need clarification or further explaining on. The class was very interesting and I definitely learned a lot. Strongly considering a career in NLP now. This class was a bit difficult for me though because my understanding with American grammar is not that good and was never really good at English. I very often got confused with some terminology and labeling the words. I also was not very good at python, so I had a lot of trouble with the homework assignments, but he does offer a lot ALOT of extra credit, so its hard not to do well. I actually did not do much of the extra credit. I probably would have gotten an A if I tried to do more, but personal reasons stopped me. |

He is well known in his area od expertise and it shows in his lectures. |

It was not manually verified and may not follow our review standards. | Prof. Resnik is an awesome teacher! He masters natural language processing and teaches it in an easy-understanding way. He is very nice to students and his class is organized very well. Go for his class and you'll enjoy it. Our final project is Learning Depression Patterns from Facebook and Reddit data, which is a lot of fun. His homework has only 3 grades, high-pass, middle-pass and low-pass; of course you will have high-pass given enough efforts! Great teacher! |
