| Liana Sayer SOCY410 Expecting a B- Anonymous 12/26/2025 | Her voice can be very boring which makes the class boring and personally I don’t believe she’s as engaged in the topic as she should be. Her class was ok tho. |
| Liana Sayer SOCY410 Expecting a B+ admin 12/10/2025 | Dr. Sayer is very knowledgeable about the topics, but her teaching style is boring. Every class, there are slides which she gives a lecture on. It is very difficult to pay attention because she is talking for almost the whole 75 minutes. There are a few in-class participation assignments, three take home assignments, two exams, and a final group presentation. The exams were completely open ended and kind of a lot to fit in the time restriction. Grading for the take home assignments are a bit on the harsher side, but mostly fair. Dr. Sayer is an overall nice lady, but she cannot for the life of her mask her expressions during class. Almost every class, she would make faces when a student answered a question wrong or said something slightly off when participating. She also did not shy away from telling students the answer they gave was wrong and correcting them on the spot. Not sure about my fellow classmates, but this made me not want to participate at all for fear of her humiliating me in front of the whole class… |
| Liana Sayer SOCY225 Expecting a B- admin 12/16/2023 | You can tell she's passionate about her job with the discussions she provokes but is overall monotonous. Coursework is laid out from day one, just a lot of readings and discussion posts weekly/biweekly. The discussion memos are lengthy but if you're like me and got put with crappy people, she'll let you work by yourself and give you a lengthy extension. The assignments aren't much either, TAs are just hard graders so they just got to my grade that's what messed me up the most. Make sure you know the key concepts, principles, and theories that's really all that was centered around it. Midterm and finals are only 10% each so don't stress it just do well on everything else and you're fine. |
| Liana Sayer SOCY236 Expecting a B+ Anonymous 12/17/2022 | Interesting topics discussed in this class but her voice is very monotonous so it is easy to fall asleep. Advice: do not mess up on the midterm or Assignment one so you're not in the same position as me, hoping that the final will bring you to an A (it is only worth 15 points). |
| Liana Sayer SOCY325 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 12/19/2020 This review was submitted while most classes were online during the COVID-19 pandemic. It may not be indicative of a regular semester. | Liana is a great professor. You can tell she really knows the material and likes engaging in discussions about it. The coursework is very straightforward and easy if you know the material. I found the textbook online for free. Half of lectures were synchronous and the other half were asynchronous. |
