He cares a lot about his students, so showing him you also care about him and his class helps you score brownie points. Go to class, and see him in office hours, he'll do his best to help you out and answer your questions. Also, participate in class discussions and read lectures before class.

He's 79 and has a lot of world experience. he cares so much about his students and really wants you to learn or just learn a way of thinking. First day of class he puts a slideshow and he says something like, a good teacher passes along information a great teacher...and then like a fantastic teacher inspires and he says he wants to inspire everyone. He's hard to understand at times though from his accent (Indian). 3 exams and a paper all weighted 25% and he gives you everything you need in the slideshows. I actually got 100% on the first exam, paper, and final and on the second exam i got a 97...it is pretty easy to do well in the class. TAKE THIS CLASS FOR YOUR CORE REQUIREMENT! i started to take insects last year and dropped it when discussion was essentially a lab and there were cockroaches and i almost killed her pet twig bug. Our final was take home and one exam question was actually along the lines of "True or fasle- developing nations have better access to clean water than developed nations"
