I really enjoyed the class with Prof. Zilfi. She is extremely nice and very knowledgable about the subject. The class had one midterm, one paper, and one final. Very manageable and she is a fair grader. Try to read and participate in class, shows up on time, and put away your computer.

Prof. Zilfi's class of the Ottoman Empire is not that difficult, though it's definitely not an easy A class. She doesn't give too many burdens for her students such as group project, presentation, or pop quizzes. She only wants one research paper which covers second mid-term exam. One mid-term exam, the paper, and final-that's it. If you just do reading and don't miss the class lecture you can handle the class and get an A. p.s. she doesn't like electronic things and usually doesn't use it many times, so never expect that she's gonna give you some important informations such as study guide for your exam. You may only get the study guide directly from her in class.

Zilfi is a great professor. She is a good lecturer -- her slight Boston accent and sense of humor help to keep the class engaged -- and very knowledge about the Ottoman Empire. The work is straight forward, midterm, 8-10 pg paper, final; and she is a fair to lenient grader.
