Special Topics in History; Cultural Festivals and Decolonization in Africa

This course explores African music festivals, film showcases, and art exhibitions (and one legendary boxing match!) during the 1960s and 1970s. The course will study these festivals to understand how African leaders thought about decolonization, independence, and national culture.
