Advanced Special Topics in Psychology; Developmental Processes of Risk and Resilience

Prerequisite: PSYC355 or equivalent. Restricted to PSYC majors only. The environments in which we live shape our brain, bodies, and behaviors. Adverse experiences (e.g., poverty, exposure to violence) andpromotive factors (e.g., warm parenting, social cohesion) sculpt health and wellbeing across the life course. This class is designed to provide students with an overview of risk and resilience across multiplecontexts (individual-, family-, and community-level) in childhood, adolescence, emerging adulthood, and older adulthood. This interdisciplinary class iswell-suited for students interested in Developmental Psychology, Epidemiology, Sociology, and Medicine.
