Assessing Language and Literacy Development in Elementary Classrooms

Corequisite: TLPL479, EDHD411, and EDSP401. Restriction: Must be in the Elementary Education program; and permission of EDUC-Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership. An exploration of the social and cognitive processes involved in reading and writing, the developmental nature of those processes, the foundational concepts associated with effective literacy assessment, a variety of formative and summative literacy assessments, and the nature of individual differences in reading and writing.
