| Carol Mossman Expecting an A Anonymous 05/19/2008 This review was automatically imported from OurUMD. It was not manually verified and may not follow our review standards. | I took this class (French Literature in Translation) and I loved it. The readings were fun so it wasn't difficult to finish them. She isn't tough with grading and her assignments are fair. Going to the class discussion makes a big difference because it will help understand the readings which enables you to do better on the exams. If you do the reading and go to class you should get an A. |
| Carol Mossman FREN302 Expecting an A admin 04/30/2008 This review was automatically imported from OurUMD. It was not manually verified and may not follow our review standards. | I really enjoyed this class. Madame Mossman is really enthusiastic about French and really knows her stuff. She's also really open to students' translational interpretations. The class consists of a translation a week. Each translation is only a couple of good-sized paragraphs long. Each student teaches one class during the semester. Essentially, the class turns into a semester-long student-led discussion about the translation for the week, where Madame Mossman serves as a guide to make sure you don't get too far off track. It's certainly not a fluff class, but if you put in the work, you can do well. |
