Seminar; The Spectacle of Nature: Ecocritical Perspectives on Theater in 18th-Century France

Students are invited to explore 18th-century dramatic and descriptive genres with a focus on the historically bound concept of nature. We will examine how various works of natural history and theater engaged in the critique of Modernity's theatricality, through representations of the conflictual relationship between nature and culture. Taught in French.
