Yanir Rubinstein MATH498R Expecting an A+ admin 05/18/2024	Great professor. Super interested in getting students plenty of experience in applied mathematics. The course was challenging, but not stressful. My only note is that it was tough to get resources to learn some of the course material.
Yanir Rubinstein MATH401 Anonymous 12/14/2023	Homework was fine, albeit a bit too much work at times. Exams were abysmal, as some of the questions were based on theory that the book neither delves into nor expects you to know when learning about the APPLICATIONS of linear algebra
Yanir Rubinstein MATH274 Expecting a C Anonymous 04/13/2022	I would not recommend this prof to anyone. I think he really did want us to understand but he did not know how to lecture effectively and also was not very good about answering questions. He would basically just write out a proof of something he found interesting on the board without explaining much of anything and did not go over the more complicated parts of it. This was a math history class and the exams were true/false for 30 points, each question was 5-10 points and if you got it wrong you lost all those points, and the rest of the exam was usually a proof of something he showed in class that you just had to memorize, but you never knew which of the examples he was going to put on the test and there were about 4 weeks of classes between exams so anything was up for grabs. The final was a 16-page single-space essay with little to no guidance which he graded extremely harshly. The only grades were the 3 exams and the final. It was really hard to get through this class every day but I had to since it was a requirement, if you don't need to take a class with him, don't.
Yanir Rubinstein MATH406 Expecting a C- Anonymous 04/14/2021 This review was submitted while most classes were online during the COVID-19 pandemic. It may not be indicative of a regular semester.	Actually really bad. I had taken this class by mistake and didn't realize it was a mistake until after add/drop, and he was the only available professor. He didn't have any reviews yet; just one from like 5 years ago that said he was awful. I said ehh, it's only 1 bad review, but I should've listened. So far the mean exam grade has been a 60 and he says he isn't going to curve it. Lectures are painful. He does zero prep and reads VERY slowly through the book, and if you ask a question he will either barely answer it or talk down to you. Probably just here for the research. The grade distribution is nice, HW's aren't graded and you get points for making a study guide, but seeing how the exams (basically the only source of a grade: 5 quizzes, ~10% each and he drops the lowest one) it's not looking great. Unless you are really good at Math and it's like your passion/you do Math research for fun, this class is gonna be the death of your GPA. I've taken up to Calc3 and LinAlg, and this class could be interesting, but he makes it tedious to sit through and gets mad when students don't show up to lecture.
